A Kaizen type (also called a project type) groups Kaizens of the same kind, for example Quick Win, JDI or DMAIC. Each type contains one or more methodologies. This article shows you how to add a new type.
Who can do this: admins with permission to manage Kaizen settings. If Kaizen Settings is missing after you were given permission, log out and log back in.
Steps
1. Log in to your LeanSuite account with your credentials.
2. Select the Kaizen module on your account home page.
3. When the Kaizen dashboard opens, select Kaizen Settings in the settings panel on the left.
Kaizen Settings opens with the Add New window.
4. Click Add Kaizen Type at the bottom. Scroll down if needed.
In LeanSuite, Kaizen methodologies sit inside a Kaizen type. Once you create a type, you can add methodologies to it.
5. In the Enter Kaizen Type box, enter the name of the new type.
6. Click Save.
Result
A green message, Kaizen Type Added Successfully, confirms that the type was created.
Good to know
When you add a project type, you choose its module: Kaizen or EWO (Emergency Work Order).
A new type does not appear on the create form until it has a methodology. See Add a Kaizen methodology.
Each type also needs a workflow. Without one, users see a "no workflow created" error. For the full setup order, see About Kaizen Settings.
The home page icons were refreshed in March 2026, so they may look different from the screenshots above.
