Create a KPI in five short stages: details and targets, frequency, sharing, data source, and publishing.
Tip: If you're new to KPIs in LeanSuite, read About KPI indicators, targets and trees first.
Details
1. Go to KPI (the KPI Dashboard) and click + KPI Builder at the top right to create a new KPI. Existing indicators are listed on the Indicators tab.
2. Choose the pillar and enter a name and description.
3. Set the unit (for example % or parts), the target, whether lower is better, and whether values are summed or averaged.
4. Optional: set RAG ranges, turn on Pareto categories, or build a calculated KPI under Advanced Details.
Important: Only change the total or aggregation option if you mean to make a calculated KPI. Changing it can turn the KPI into a calculated one.
5. Click Save & Next.
Frequency
6. Choose how often a value is due, for example every day, or every week on Monday.
7. Set the start and end time: the time window each day for entering the value. It sets the calendar entry and reminder email.
8. Set the end date (or Never): how long the KPI runs.
9. Click Save & Next.
Share
10. Choose who can see the KPI (only you, your facility, or specific people or roles) and who is responsible for entering values. They'll get reminders.
Tip: Keep sensitive KPIs, such as cost, private.
11. Click Save & Next.
Source
12. Choose where the values come from:
Manual: people enter values (see Enter KPI values).
LeanSuite: use data from another module, for example quality tags.
Google Sheet or Excel (OneDrive or SharePoint): values are read on a schedule (see Connect a KPI to Excel or Google Sheets).
Publish
13. Click Publish.
Your KPI appears under View All on the KPI Dashboard with its next review date, and it can be added to Lean Studio dashboards.
