Each Kaizen methodology has settings that control due dates and workload. This article shows you how to edit them.
Who can do this: admins with permission to manage Kaizen settings.
Before you begin
Open the Add New window in Kaizen Settings, as described in Add a Kaizen type.
Open the methodology
1. In the Add New window, find the Kaizen type and the methodology you want to change ("Sample Kaizen methodology" in the example).
2. Click the drop-down arrow on the far left of the methodology.
Edit the settings
The panel shows three settings you can edit:
Total Days to Due: the number of days a Kaizen of this methodology has before it is due.
Workload Threshold: a numeric value for the workload threshold of a Kaizen.
On/Off toggles: two switches, Enable Days to due by phase and Is Default, described below.
Below the toggles, a locked Days to due for section (for example Days to due for PDCA) shows Days To Due and Workload(%) for each phase.
The Templates area lists the sections added to each phase.
The settings are locked by default.
3. Click the pencil icon at the top right (marked in the example).
4. Edit the methodology's fields. In editing mode, the pencil icon is replaced by an X icon.
Enable Days to due by phase
Use this toggle instead of a single Total Days to Due when you want to set the number of days for each phase of the methodology.
Due dates are then set automatically. They feed workload, and delays trigger an email and a flag on the Kaizen Dashboard.
Is Default
Turn this on to make this methodology the default for the Kaizen type.
Note: Methodology remains a mandatory field on the create form, even when a type has only one methodology.
Save and lock the settings
5. Click Save at the bottom right.
6. Click the X icon at the top right to lock the settings.
The pencil icon reappears and the settings are grayed out. Your new settings are now applied.
Good to know
Each phase can have a template that sets which sections open automatically in that phase.
A Kaizen type also needs a workflow before users can move Kaizens through their statuses.
