Mark submitted quizzes

Mark trainees' submitted quiz answers as correct or incorrect in the Quiz Window, and save to set the quiz status.

Written by Angad Singh

As an instructor, you mark the answers trainees submit so each quiz gets a final Passed or Failed status.

Before you begin

  1. Open the Instructor Panel from the LMS parent menu.

  2. In the top bar, click View Details on the Submitted Quizzes card. The Your Tasks dashboard opens.

For details, see View submitted quizzes.

Note: When you create quiz questions, you also enter the correct answers. The LMS can mark some questions automatically by comparing them with those answers. You can override any automatic result while you mark the quiz.

Mark a quiz

1. On the Your Tasks dashboard, click the quiz you want to mark.

Tip: Set the filter to Pending to list all the quizzes that haven't been marked yet.

The Quiz Window opens as a side overlay. Here you see all the submitted answers and can mark them.

The top bar shows statistics as you mark the quiz, such as correct answers, incorrect answers and marks obtained. The two main buttons are Save and Cancel.

Tip: If a quiz has many questions, you can mark some answers, click Save, and come back later to continue. Click Cancel to leave without saving your progress.

2. Mark each question with its drop-down menu. The three options are:

  • Pending: the question hasn't been marked yet.

  • Correct

  • Incorrect

Short answer questions have an extra rich text box where you can comment on the answer.

True or False questions have a toggle to switch the answer between true and false so you can mark the submitted answer.

To learn more about building quizzes and question types, see Create a quiz.

3. When you have marked all the questions, click Save in the top bar.

Result

When marking is complete, the quiz Status changes to Passed or Failed. If any question is left unmarked, the status stays Pending.

Good to know

  • If a course has a max attempts limit, a trainee who fails too many times is locked out of the course.

  • To see individual quiz percentages across trainees, use the Quiz Performance report on the LMS dashboard.
