Need Help reaching the suggestion Dashboard?

The Suggestion dashboard has multiple ways of navigating through the submitted suggestions to find one particular suggestion, suggestions related to a topic or department, pillars etc.

Let's look into how we can thoroughly search the suggestions dashboard.

Searching by Name & ID

Enter the Name or ID of your suggestion in the search box on the top left corner.

The search bar in the dashboard only uses ID or title (name) of the suggestion for searching the database. If you want to search a suggestion via any other information use Filter Search (Explained Below).

Search By Using Filters

Search Filters are various criteria based on which a dashboard will look into the database and show the relevant results.

Select any one of the filters located in front of the search bar based on the suggestion you are searching.

Click on the filter button and a side window will show up with multiple fields to select from and apply to the search criteria.

Scroll down through the window to find and edit all the fields relevant to your search.

Once done click on apply and the search results according to the filters will show up in the dashboard section.

Useful Tips !

1. Resetting & Clearing Filters

When a filter criterion is active you can click on the filter button to see which filters are active. You can further continue to either reset all or remove any filter quickly from this small drop-down window itself!

2. Group By

A convenient Group By filter located just next to the filter button provides an option to group the suggestions with certain options. This further helps speeding up the searching process by focusing applicable criteria such as pillar, implementor, priority etc.

Simply click on the Group By button and a side window similar to the filter window will open up.

Choose a group by option from the drop down list.

Once you choose a group, another field shows up based on your group selection allowing you to input one more level of filter criteria inside the bigger group.

Based on your filter requirements, you can further choose from the second filed drop down list.

Useful Tips!

Notice in the picture how there are two selections; Cost Deployment and Environment. This is because the second field allows more than one selection adding another layer to the search features.

Simply click on the options you want and in case you change your mind click on the cross icon left to the selected options or click on the selected option once more to remove them!

Once you are done with your selections, click on apply to filter the suggestions dashboard.

The suggestions dashboard will now show up with collapsible tabs based on your selection (see the picture below).

Make sure you collapse the tabs to see all the results grouped up in the window. For some groups scroll down the window to see all the groups created by the filter criteria.

You can use the drop-down arrow on the left of each group or simply select Collapse All/Expand All button on the top right corner of the window to get a quick overview.

Refer Image Below!

You will notice the Group By button is renamed to the selection you made, pillars in this case. You can click this button to open the side window and reset all filters to start from scratch!

3. Saved Views

Notice how we have to choose a variety of options to get the desired search results!

When dealing with hundreds of suggestions during daily operations it might get difficult and time consuming to apply the filters again and again. At times it's possible to forget the choices and loose the search results you were working on the last time.

We thought of this as a possible problem and proceeded to add a Saved Views button to tackle it!

Let's look at how it works!

Saved Views button located next to the Group By serves to "Save" the view or more accurately the search criteria/filters applied by you during a search. This Saved View allows you to visit the same filter criteria next time without going to the hassle of remembering and selecting the options again.

To use this feature simply click on the button and select + Save View.

A small pop-up window opens up allowing you to enter a name for your view. Enter the desired name and click on Save.

Once saved, you can click on the Saved Views button again to see the view you just created now listed in the views. Simply click on it and the saved filters will apply showing you the results bases on the same filters as before!

Useful Tips!

Notice the pin icon on the right of the saved view; you can use that to pin a particular view of your choice when there are multiple views. It saves you the time to search for a particular view in future!

Congratulations! You have successfully learned how to search the suggestion database!

Filtering a database based on various criteria can help in various ways depending on how the search results are used; either for analysis, documentation, tracking purposes etc.

The Dashboard offers an export feature where you can export your search results in a CSV (Comma Separated Values) format and edit it in excel for various uses.

Now that you know how to specifically search for suggestions, let’s learn how to export your search results!
