About tool management in Kaizen

Learn how Tool Management keeps a list of improvement tools and skills, links them to loss types and tracks their use.

Written by Angad Singh

Tool Management is part of the Loss Management feature in Kaizen Settings. It lets your facility build a list of the tools (and skills) used for continuous improvement, and connect them to loss types.

When you create a new tool, it is added to the list and shown on the Tool Management Dashboard, which works like the Kaizen Dashboard.

To learn how to reach this menu, see About navigation in the Kaizen module.

Why use Tool Management

  • It keeps the tools used for continuous improvement organized, so they are easy to find, maintain and apply to specific losses.

  • You can create tools and add them to loss types.

  • It records how much each tool is used when a loss is tackled in a Kaizen.

  • Your facility can build a list of all available tools, then add them to loss types as needed.

This is what the Tool Management Dashboard looks like:

Good to know

  • The dashboard shows up to 20 results per page.

  • New tools are added at the end of the list. When there are more than 20 tools, the others are shown on the following pages.

  • Tools used in Kaizens also feed gap planning, where active Kaizen projects are shown alongside courses that close skill gaps.
