Assign a course to a user

Assign a published course to one or more users, or to a role, from the All Courses dashboard.

You can assign a published course to one or more users, or to one or more roles. Assigned courses appear in each person's My Learning section.

Steps

2. Open the Instructor Panel from the LMS parent menu. For an overview, see About the Instructor Panel.

3. Open the All Courses dashboard to see all courses in your workspace.

4. Find the course you want to assign. At the right end of the course row, click the three dots in the Action column. A small window opens with three options.

5. Click Assign Course. A side window opens with a drop-down box.

6. Search for the name of the user you want to assign the course to, and click the result.

Tip: You can assign a course to several people at once. Search for each name and click the result; the people you add are listed below the search box. To remove the last person you added, press Backspace in the search box.

7. When you have added everyone, click Assign at the bottom right.

Result

A green notification confirms that the course has been assigned.

Assign a course to a role

Besides individual users, you can assign a course or a learning plan to one or more roles, for example to give every new hire the same onboarding training.

Everyone with that role gets the course.

Note: After someone's role changes, they must log out and log back in for the change to take effect.

Related features

  • Course Share: to make a course available in other facilities, share it and pick the facilities. With Private access, the course is visible there but only assigned people can open it. Courses must be shared to a facility before they appear there.

  • Enrollment requests: for Private courses, users who aren't assigned can request enrollment. Their requests appear under Enrollment requests.

  • In-class sessions: for instructor-led courses you set the seats and a waitlist, and can auto-enroll trainees. Trainees confirm attendance with an attendance code.

  • Completion window and refresher: if an assignee misses the completion window, the course is marked overdue. A Refresher setting reassigns the course automatically every year.
