Enter KPI data manually

Enter single or bulk values into a manual-source KPI from the KPI dashboard, or upload a file.

Written by Angad Singh

Enter values into a KPI by hand when its source is set to Manual.

When you create a KPI, the Source section sets how data gets into it. There are four options: Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, a LeanSuite module, or Manual entry. See About the KPI builder sections for details of each source.

Note: The other sources update automatically.

Open the KPI

1. Go to the KPI Dashboard from the home page.

2. Click the KPI you want to enter data for. A side window opens with the KPI's details.

3. In the options at the top, click Input Value.

Enter the values

4. In the KPI input window, enter values in one of two ways:

  • Single entry: enter the date, value, category (if the KPI uses Pareto categories), an optional target override and a comment. Leave the target blank to use the KPI's global target.

  • Bulk: set a date range with the two date pickers in the top right corner, then fill in the grid. Use this to backfill several dates at once.

5. Click Save in the bottom right corner when you are finished.

Other ways to enter values

  • Upload file: upload an Excel or CSV file, then map the sheet, date, actual value, and optional target and category columns. Remove empty rows and extra columns first.

  • From a Lean Studio board: click a date on the board, then click Add KPI.
