The MTTR section lets you record the timing of an equipment breakdown and repair in a Kaizen.
What MTTR is
MTTR stands for Mean Time To Repair. In lean manufacturing, MTTR is a key performance metric.
It measures the average time needed to diagnose, repair and restore equipment to full working order after a failure.
It covers the stages of the repair process: initial wait time, diagnostic time, spare part waiting time and the actual repair and replacement time.
Monitoring and improving MTTR helps you reduce equipment downtime, improve operational efficiency and raise overall productivity.
The main fields in the MTTR section are:
Breakdown Start: the time the equipment failure occurs.
Breakdown End: the time the equipment is fully repaired and operational.
Maintenance Start: the time the maintenance team begins the repair.
Initial Wait Time: the time between the breakdown and the start of maintenance.
Diagnostic Time: the time spent identifying the cause of the failure.
Spare Part Waiting Time: the time spent waiting for the necessary parts.
Repair and Replacement Time: the time taken to fix or replace the faulty components.
Use the MTTR section
1. Add the MTTR section from the available list to the required phase. See Add or remove sections from Kaizen phases.
Note: a newly added section appears below the last section in the phase.
2. Expand the section by clicking anywhere in the section field, or on the arrow on the right side. You can also use the arrow to collapse the section.
The MTTR section has 7 fields for recording a breakdown:

Two bars above the fields summarize the total MTTR time.
3. Enter the information in the fields as required.
Note: to set the time, open the calendar window for the date. The time field is inside it.
4. Click Save when you finish.
5. Collapse the MTTR section.
