About the Tool section in Kaizen

Record the tools or skills a Kaizen needs, with a Tool Lead, required expertise and usage count for each.

Written by Angad Singh

The Tool section lets you record the tools (skills) needed to resolve the issue or complete the process covered by the Kaizen.

You can add multiple tools and, for each tool, record the Tool Lead, the Expertise required and the Tool Usage Count.

Use the Tool section

1. Add the Tool section from the available list to the required phase. See Add or remove sections from Kaizen phases.

Note: a newly added section appears below the last section in the phase.

2. Expand the section by clicking anywhere in the section field, or on the arrow on the right side. You can also use the arrow to collapse the section.

When the section is added for the first time, it contains no tools.

3. Click Add Tools. The button is replaced by a drop-down menu of tools.

4. Click the down arrow to view the options.

5. Select the tool you want to add.

The tool appears in a list, with options next to it.

Tip: to add more tools, click the drop-down arrow again and select another tool.

6. Use the options next to each tool to add the Tool Lead, Expertise and Tool Usage Count.

You can add this information in two places:

  • The tool list card: add the Tool Lead and Usage Count.

  • The Edit Tool window: add all three.
