Import your defect data into Cost Management so it is available for analysis in Loss Trees.
Watch a video walkthrough (1:40): Import data in Cost Management
Open the Import window
1. Log in to your LeanSuite account with your credentials.
2. Go to Import in the Cost Management parent menu. Need help? See About Cost Management navigation. The Import window opens with several options.
Importing defects has two main stages:
Upload File: you upload the file that contains the defects.
Field Mapping: you align each column in your file with the matching field in Cost Management. This makes sure Cost Management reads and processes your data correctly.
Example: Mapping the "Cost" column in your file to the "Cost" field lets Cost Management treat those entries as cost values.
Stage 1: Upload File
3. Select the defect type. The two options are above the Drag & Drop box:
Stage 1: defects are uploaded directly into the database and are available for analysis.
Stage 2: lets you create a Loss Tree directly from the data you upload. When you select Stage 2, enter the Loss Tree title and the Start and End Date before you upload the file.

4. Drag the file into the box, or click Browse to select it. After the upload, the file appears in the list below.
Note: You can upload CSV, XLS and XLSX files up to 200 MB, and you can upload and map one file at a time.
Tip: If you uploaded the wrong file, click the Delete (bin) icon on the far right, then upload the correct file.
5. Click Next to go to Stage 2.
Stage 2: Field Mapping
6. For each column in your file, select the matching Cost Management field. For example, map your "Cost" column to the Cost field.
7. When you have finished mapping the fields, click Import in the bottom-right corner.
Note: You can go back to either stage, Upload File or Field Mapping, at any point by clicking its name.
Result
The data is imported, and a small status bar appears in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
Tip: Click the arrow next to the cross in the status bar to view the details of the uploaded file.
Note: Every import is recorded in Import History, which shows whether the data was imported manually or by the system. See Check import history in Cost Management.
