Request a new due date for a Best Practice. The due date is part of the Best Practice's properties; for other property fields, see Edit information in a Best Practice.
Important: To change the due date, you must give a reason. The responsible approver reviews the reason before the change is approved, so changing the due date opens a separate request window.
Open the request window
1. Open the Best Practice you want to edit, in either the side window or the detail view.
2. Scroll down to the Due Date field and click the Pencil icon on its right.
The Request for Update Due Date window opens.
The window has four fields:
Current Due Date: the Best Practice's current due date.
Revised Due Date: the new date you are requesting.
Reason For Revised Due Date: a drop-down list of reasons. Every change needs a reason.
Comment: optional extra information about the reason for the change.
Note: Until it is approved, a Best Practice works like a Kaizen, so these settings are the same as in the Kaizen module. The list of reasons is managed in the Revised Due Date Reasons setting. See Add a revised due date reason in Kaizen settings.
Fill in the request
1. Click the calendar icon on the right of the Revised Due Date field and select the new date in the calendar pop-up.
2. Click the drop-down arrow and choose the appropriate reason.
To replace a reason, click the x icon to clear it and choose another.
A new date and a reason are required before the Save button becomes active. The comment is optional.
3. Optionally, type a comment in the box provided. The built-in text editor lets you format anything from a short note to a detailed explanation.
4. Click Save.
Good to know
The Current Due Date is the date in effect now. The Revised Due Date is the new date you request, together with its reason.
After you submit a due date change request, the Best Practice is automatically added to the approval dashboard with the other items waiting for approval. See About the Kaizen approval dashboard.
